Sandbar at Lake Winnisquam - New England

The Sandbar at Lake Winnisquam is a solid spot for getting your fins wet in New England. It’s a shallow, easy dive, topping out at seven meters, which makes it perfect for knocking out some skills or just enjoying a relaxed float. Expect to see plenty of freshwater critters – sunfish darting through the weeds, maybe a bass or two lurking near the bottom. Visibility can vary, but generally, it’s a perfectly pleasant place for new divers or anyone looking for a low-key afternoon underwater. We’d suggest going on a weekday if you can, as it gets pretty popular with boaters.
