Cassimer Wreck - North Carolina

The Cassimer Wreck, off the North Carolina coast, always gives us a good day. It's a proper wreck dive, not just a pile of rubble. We love how the structure remains largely intact, offering swim-throughs and penetration opportunities if you’re properly trained and equipped. You can drop down and immediately feel the history – the steel plates are thick with barnacles and hydroids, shifting gently in the current. Our favourite part is the engine room, often sheltering large amberjacks. Schools of spottail pinfish flicker in and out of the shadows, and we've frequently spotted large gag groupers tucked into crevices. The wreck acts like a magnet for pelagics, too; we’ve had Caribbean reef sharks cruise by on several occasions. It’s a site that rewards multiple dives. Each visit you pick up on a new detail, a different resident. We’d suggest checking the current forecast; North Carolina can dish out some strong ones, making the dive exhilarating but demanding. It's a solid choice for experienced wreck divers looking for genuine exploration.
