Keshena Wreck - North Carolina

The Keshena, a World War II casualty, sits in around 35 metres of water off North Carolina. It’s a great dive, especially when the visibility kicks in, which it often does here. We love dropping down and seeing the hull just materialise out of the blue, still largely intact and resting on its starboard side. You can swim through the main cargo holds, which are now wide open and a perfect playground for sand tiger sharks. They’re usually just cruising through, or sometimes you'll find them resting on the sandy bottom inside. Keep an eye out for big schools of baitfish shimmering over the decks, and we’ve often seen amberjacks circling around the mast structure. This wreck gives you that proper sense of history, a real piece of the past, now a vibrant artificial reef. It’s a site that rewards multiple dives; you always spot something new.
