DOMIAT - El Gouna

The Domiat, resting at a maximum depth of 51m, is a properly deep dive and one of our favourite Red Sea wrecks for its sheer size and the feeling of history it evokes. This frigate sits upright and largely intact, a testament to its sturdy build, though time and current have begun to peel back its layers. We love exploring the bow, where the anchor chains still run out, giving you a real sense of its former life. Down here, the light is subdued, painting the decks in an ethereal blue, and you often find schools of bigeye trevally circling the mast, occasionally zipping into the shadows. Visibility can be excellent, often pushing 30m, which helps immensely when navigating a wreck of this scale. Our tip: watch for the resident lionfish tucked into doorways on the superstructure – they’re surprisingly camouflaged against the rust. This isn't a dive for beginners; the depth and potential for current mean you need to be comfortable and experienced, but for technical divers, it offers an incredible, challenging exploration.
