GEMINI - El Gouna

Gemini is a sleeper hit for us in El Gouna. Forget the big-name wrecks; this barge, sunk in ’74 after a drilling mishap, offers something genuinely different. We love how she lies on her side, making for an unusual orientation as you descend. The sheer scale of the cargo holds is what really grabs you – they’re cavernous, open to the light, and feel more like underwater cathedrals than a sunken barge. Expect to see schools of glassfish shimmering in the darker corners, spilling out into the light if you approach too quickly. The current often sweeps through here, bringing in larger pelagics, so keep an eye out into the blue. We’d suggest a slow fin-kick along the length of the hull, exploring the nooks and crannies where the structure has collapsed. It’s a site that rewards patience, perfect for photographers looking for interesting light play and divers who appreciate a wreck with a bit of industrial charm.
