Kimon M, wreck - El Gouna

The Kimon M sits upright on the seabed at 26 meters, a real classic for Red Sea wreck diving. We love that it’s still so intact, considering its age. You can drop down the mooring line right onto the bow, and from there, the whole ship unfolds beneath you. We’d suggest heading straight for the stern, where the prop is still visible, often with a school of batfish circling lazily. The holds are wide open, and the light filtering down creates these incredible shafts through the water. Swim through them, and you’ll find glassfish so dense they look like liquid silver. A quick peek in the engine room is always a treat, with the machinery still surprisingly recognisable. For newer wreck divers, the Kimon M is ideal. The currents here are usually gentle, and with a maximum depth of 26m, it’s a comfortable, extended bottom time. Keep an eye out for resident lionfish tucked into shadowy corners and occasional blue-spotted rays gliding over the sand nearby.
