Kosmos 2 - El Gouna

The Kosmos 2 wreck is a special one, a proper little time capsule sitting upright in the sand at a comfortable 13 metres. We love that it’s so accessible, perfect for divers building confidence on wrecks or just looking for a relaxed dive. This old motor vessel, now officially classified as 'dangerous' (mostly due to age and fragility), has become a brilliant artificial reef. You’ll weave through the collapsed wheelhouse, past the twisted davits, and peer into the open cargo holds where glassfish often shimmer in huge, nervous clouds. What truly makes Kosmos 2 a standout is the way the light filters through the structure and the sheer volume of critters that call it home. Moray eels peek from every nook and cranny, lionfish drift lazily over rusted beams, and we’ve spotted plenty of crocodilefish camouflaged on the deck plates. It's a photographer's dream, especially when the late morning sun hits it just right, illuminating the soft corals that have started to bloom across the metalwork. Go early if you can, before the dive boats stack up, and take your time exploring the nooks. It's not a deep dive, so you have plenty of bottom time to really soak it all in.
