MUHAISNA - El Gouna

Muhaisna is one of our favourites in El Gouna for a reason. This cargo ship, an old motor vessel called Dina Elizabeth, went down in 1983 and now lies scattered across the seabed at a forgiving 11 metres. It’s not one big intact wreck, more a series of fascinating pieces – engine parts, hull sections, and that huge propeller, still looking ready to spin. We love how the Red Sea has just taken over. You’ll weave through the wreckage, fins kicking up just a little sand, and find glassfish shimmering in the darker recesses of what used to be the engine room. Keep an eye out for crocodilefish camouflaged on the sandy patches, and often, a curious stonefish or two. It's a relaxed dive, perfect for photographers wanting to get close-ups of the colourful soft corals that now coat every metal surface. The shallowness makes for long bottom times and great natural light. We’d suggest going in the morning; the sun angle really brings out the blues and reds.
