Bajo Caribana - Malpelo Island

Forget everything you think you know about Danish diving. Klørgrund isn't some placid fjord; it's a legitimate North Sea reef, a proper standout. We love it for its sheer wildness. Drop in, and you're immediately struck by the sheer volume of life scrambling across the rocks. It’s rugged, exposed, and utterly exhilarating. This isn’t a place for delicate drift dives. The currents here can be robust, so you’ll want to time your visit around slack water, or be prepared to work. But that effort is rewarded. The rocks are absolutely bristling with Green Sea Urchins and Common Sea Stars, and we’ve seen European Common Squid darting through the water. Keep an eye out for larger fish like megrim and dab settled on the sandy patches between the rocky outcrops. Our favourite memory is a quick, silent pass by a Harbour Porpoise – a truly humbling moment in the low North Sea light. It’s cold water diving, so thick drysuits are a must, but if you’re up for an adventure, Klørgrund offers a raw, undiluted taste of the North Sea's vibrant, often overlooked, underwater world.
