SARWAGUNA-5 - Derawan Islands

The Sarwaguna-5 wreck offers a different kind of dive in Derawan. This landing craft vessel, resting in a shallow 6 meters, has become an artificial reef in its own right. It's not a deep, dramatic wreck penetration, but more a gentle exploration of what time and the sea can do to steel. You can circle the remains, watching the resident batfish hang around the superstructure and the odd snapper dart out from beneath. Visibility here is usually pretty good, making it a relaxed spot for newer divers to experience a wreck, or for photographers looking for a bright, easy shot.
