Turtle Bay Maratua - Derawan Islands

Turtle Bay, off Maratua, is exactly what it sounds like. We’ve done this dive many times as a relaxed afternoon or check-out dive, and it rarely disappoints on the turtle front. The reef here is a gentle slope down to 22 metres, covered in a mix of hard and soft corals. You’ll find green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles almost guaranteed, often just cruising by or resting on the coral bommies. Visibility is generally good, and with negligible current, it’s a perfect spot for newer divers to just slow down and spend some quality time with the local shelled residents.
