KMP Kencana XIII - Komodo

The KMP Kencana XIII sits upright at 50 metres, a ghostly cargo ferry that went down in 2011. This isn't your average Komodo drift dive; it’s a proper wreck experience, deep and dark, best suited for experienced divers comfortable with extended bottom times. We love dropping down the line onto the bridge, the ship still remarkably intact, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. Inside the cargo hold, you'll find schools of batfish circling, their silver bodies glinting in your torch beam. Out on the deck, we’ve spotted giant trevally patrolling the perimeter, and sometimes a white-tip reef shark cruises by, checking out the new residents. The sheer scale of the wreck is impressive, and the way it’s been colonised by soft corals and sponges makes it feel ancient, despite its relatively young age. Go early to avoid any other dive boats, and keep an eye on your decompression limits.
