Lighthouse Reef Dive Site - Komodo

Lighthouse Reef in Komodo is one of those sites we always try to hit when we're in the north. It’s an exposed pinnacle, and that exposure means current, usually a good bit of it. We love a drift, though, and Lighthouse delivers. The water is often a cooler blue here than some of the bays, which we find quite refreshing, and visibility can stretch for miles. You'll spot dense schools of fusiliers and snapper, often swirling so thick they dim the light filtering down from the surface. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff too; we've seen everything from Peacock-tail Anemone Shrimp tucked into their homes to the elusive Two-spot Locust Lobster hugging the reef. The Bracket Coral provides excellent habitat, and the pops of yellow from Yellowspotted Dottybacks are a constant. This site is definitely one for divers comfortable with current, as it’s often a fast ride past a vibrant, fish-laden reef.
