Abyss Dive Center - Lombok & Gili Islands
The team at Abyss Dive Center are our go-to for diving the Gilis and mainland Lombok. We’ve found their instructors have a knack for making even the most nervous divers feel at ease, and we love that they cater to a broader range of certifications beyond the usual PADI and SSI, offering FFESSM, ANMP, CMAS, and CEDIP. That French touch often means a slightly different, more thorough approach to training, which we appreciate. They’re based right there in the thick of it, meaning less travel time to some of our favourite sites like Shark Point and Manta Point. We’d suggest going with them for your Advanced Open Water if you’re looking to really nail your buoyancy – they spend the time. On a morning dive with them off Gili T, we saw a massive green sea turtle grazing so close we could hear the crunch of it biting coral. Their afternoon trips often mean fewer boats at the sites, giving you a bit more space to explore the reef’s vibrant anemones and clownfish without feeling rushed. A solid choice for divers who value patient instruction and local expertise.
