With 238+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, giant moray eels, pygmy seahorses, seahorses and sperm whales - Baulu Reef offers some of Sulawesi's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest June, October, November.
Baulu Reef in Sulawesi often gets overlooked, but it’s a solid dive when you’re in the area. We’ve found it’s best explored as a drift, letting the current carry you past some healthy patches of staghorn and Anacropora corals. Keep your eyes peeled for half-round carditas tucked into crevices and the occasional hooded oyster. It’s not a site that will blow your mind, but for a relaxed dive with consistent fish activity, Baulu delivers a pleasant hour underwater.
