    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

California Reef in Sulawesi often delivers a relaxed dive. We’ve found the currents here tend to be on the gentle side, making it a good choice for newer divers or those looking for an easy-going exploration. Keep an eye out for the smaller inhabitants; mantis shrimp like *Haptosquilla pulchella* and *Gonodactylellus viridis* are often pottering about on the sandy patches and around the various corals, which include some nice stands of staghorn. It's not a site that screams with big pelagics, but the macro life and general chill vibe make for a pleasant hour underwater.
