With 238+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, giant moray eels, pygmy seahorses, seahorses and sperm whales - Channel offers some of Sulawesi's richest drift diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest June, October, November.
The Channel in Sulawesi is exactly what it sounds like, a great spot for a drift. We typically find ourselves flying along, eyes peeled for the bottom dwellers. You'll often see small giant clams embedded in the reef, along with a few hooded oysters clinging on as the current rushes past. Look for patches of starflower coral and keep an eye out for blue sea stars. This site is best for divers who enjoy a quick, easy ride and aren't afraid to go with the flow.
