FORDECO NO.15 - Mabul & Kapalai

Forget your usual Mabul drift. Fordeco No. 15 is our top pick if you want something a bit different, a proper rust bucket of a barge that’s become a macro mecca. It’s shallow, only 13 meters, which means plenty of bottom time and great light for photography. We love cruising over the collapsed deck, peering into the shadowy hold where you often find giant moray eels peeking out. The real charm here is how nature has completely reclaimed the wreck. Look for the resident ornate ghost pipefish, they’re masters of disguise amidst the hydroids and soft corals now growing on the metal. We’ve also had fantastic luck spotting robust ghost pipefish and a dizzying number of nudibranchs, especially on the upright sections of the hull. Keep an eye out for frogfish too, they blend in perfectly with the sponge growth. It’s not a huge wreck, so you can really take your time, exploring every nook and cranny. Perfect for photographers and those who appreciate a slower, more detailed dive.
