With 119+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue-spotted stingrays, giant moray eels, grey reef sharks, pygmy seahorses and sea turtles - Karang Unarang Island offers some of Mabul & Kapalai's richest reef diving.
Karang Unarang sits just off the western side of Mabul, and it’s a site we often swing by for an easy afternoon dive. The reef here, while not as dramatic as some of its neighbours, still offers plenty to keep an eye out for. We typically find schools of snapper hanging around the coral bommies, and there’s a good chance of spotting turtles munching on the seagrass in the shallower sections. It's a relaxed dive, generally with mild currents, making it a good choice for newer divers or those looking for a chilled-out second or third tank.
