TJIKA NIKI - Mabul & Kapalai

TJIKA NIKI. We love this wreck, it’s not just a sunken hull, it’s a living structure now, a real centrepiece for the smaller stuff. Dropping down to 32m, you quickly see the outline of the vessel, broken but still substantial. It’s classed as a dangerous wreck, and you should treat it with respect, but the open sections are inviting. We’ve spent whole dives just poking around the edges, finding pipefish tucked into crevices and squadrons of schooling jacks swirling above the deck. What makes Tjika Niki a standout for us isn't its size, but how the reef has reclaimed it. Look closely, and you’ll spot crocodilefish camouflaged on the rusted plates, or watch batfish circle lazily around the mast. The lack of current here often makes for a relaxed dive, allowing you to really take your time exploring the nooks where nudibranchs and flatworms hide. It’s a site for the patient diver, those who appreciate the quiet hunt for macro life against a dramatic backdrop.
