Why dive here
With 142+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blue-spotted stingrays, eagle rays, sea turtles and sperm whales - China Town offers some of Sipadan's richest diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest May, October, November.
China Town sits on Sipadan’s western side, an easier dive than some of the more exposed sites. We’ve found it’s a good spot for exploring healthy hard coral formations and keeping an eye out for green turtles cruising the reef. The currents here are generally mild, making it a comfortable drift for newer divers looking to experience Sipadan without the vigorous finning. It’s not the dramatic drop-off of Barracuda Point, but it’s a solid reef dive with reliable turtle sightings.
