MARU FUJI NO.3 - Sipadan

Maru Fuji No.3 isn't Sipadan's deepest dive, but it’s one of our favourite shallow wrecks anywhere. At just 16 metres, it’s a brilliant second dive or a leisurely potter for photographers. This old fishing vessel, tragically sunk by pirates, sits upright and largely intact, a real time capsule. You’ll drop down and immediately see the bow, often draped in schooling batfish, their silver scales glinting in the shafts of sunlight. We love slipping through the cargo holds, imagining the ship's last moments, though you need to be mindful of silt. Look for pipefish camouflaged against the rust, and we often spot grumpy stonefish tucked into crevices on the deck. It’s a site that rewards slow exploration rather than rushing through, perfect for those who appreciate history as much as marine life. A strong current can sometimes sweep through, so check conditions before you drop.
