DAGOHOY - Dumaguete

The Dagohoy wreck, right off Dumaguete’s coast, is one of our favourite shore dives. This isn’t some deep, dark mystery; she’s practically a training wreck, sitting so shallow that parts poke out of the water at low tide. We’ve finned over her many times, and each time something new catches our eye. She went down in 1990 after running aground, a fairly ordinary motor vessel now transformed into a busy artificial reef. You can explore her holds, swim through the superstructure, and even poke around the engine room if you’re comfortable with overhead environments. Schools of batfish often mill around the bridge, their silhouettes shifting like a curtain, while a resident school of bigeye trevally circles the main mast. Look closely in the nooks and crannies; we’ve spotted frogfish here and more nudibranchs than we can count. It’s a gentle wreck, perfect for divers wanting to hone their buoyancy and navigation skills in a real-world setting without the pressure of depth or strong currents.
