Coral Garden Reef

Coral Garden Reef in Palawan, it’s exactly what it sounds like. We’ve probably spent more time here finning slowly over the shallows than at any other site in the area. The corals really are the stars, a sprawling, colourful tapestry that feels endless on a sunny day. You’ll see big tables, delicate branching acropora, and massive brain corals, all packed together. We love watching the damselfish dart in and out, constantly tending their little patches of reef. It’s an easy dive, perfect for just kicking back and letting the current, usually mild, carry you along. Look closely and you’ll find those bizarre little gobies – the Redlined Pygmygoby is a favourite of ours, tiny and bright. Keep an eye out for the filefish too, they’re surprisingly camouflaged against the coral. This site is a visual feast for macro enthusiasts and photographers, or anyone who just wants to soak up the sheer beauty of a healthy, vibrant reef. It’s a gentle reminder of why we started diving in the first place.
