IRENE BRYELLE - Visayas
The *Irene Bryelle* isn’t just another sunken ship; she’s a proper expedition, a real deep dive into history. Lying upright in the Visayan depths, her sheer size is impressive from the moment she appears out of the blue. We love the way she’s mostly intact, her cargo holds open for exploration, offering eerie tunnels for experienced wreck divers. You’ll feel the chill as you penetrate the darker sections, imagining her final moments. Our favourite part is the engine room, a tangled mess of machinery now home to huge groupers and schools of snapper that swirl around your torch beam. The deck structures are encrusted with colourful soft corals and sponges, attracting clouds of fusiliers and damselfish. Keep an eye out for the resident frogfish, they’re masters of camouflage here. This site truly suits divers comfortable with depth and overhead environments, someone who appreciates a wreck with a story, not just a reef. We’d suggest going early; sometimes the currents pick up later in the day, making the swim back to the line a bit of a workout.
