IRUNIA - Visayas

Irúnia isn't your typical Visayan wreck dive. At a maximum depth of just eight metres, it's more like a shallow-water playground, perfect for longer bottom times and really soaking in the details. We love that it’s so accessible, making it a great option for newer divers getting comfortable with overhead environments, or even photographers who want to take their time getting the shot right. This isn’t some pristine, intact vessel. The Irúnia is a proper wreck, broken and scattered, with its ribs jutting out like ancient bones. It’s the kind of site where you fin slowly, peering into every crevice. Look closely and you’ll find nudibranchs inching across the metal, moray eels peeking from the darker nooks, and schools of small reef fish darting between the decaying structure. It feels less like a ship and more like a purpose-built artificial reef now, completely given over to the ocean. Our favourite part? The way the light filters through the broken sections, creating these shimmering shafts. It's truly magical and feels different with every passing cloud.
