Panal Reef
Protected Area
Sagay Marine Reserve
Why dive here
With 554+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, manta rays and mobula rays (devil rays) - Panal Reef offers some of Visayas's richest reef diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest May, June, October.
Panal Reef gives you a good, solid dive without too much fuss. We've found it's a relaxed drift, often with a gentle current, letting you take your time over the coral formations. You'll spot Donkey Croakers hanging around the overhangs and the Eight Banded Butterflyfish are always busy pecking at the corals. If you're looking for a straightforward, pleasant dive to unwind after a more strenuous morning, this one fits the bill nicely. It’s a comfortable site for newer divers or those who just want to enjoy the reef without battling a strong current.
