PARALUMAN - Visayas

Paraluman is one of our favourite shallow wrecks in the Visayas, a really compelling little dive. It’s a small motor vessel, lying upright in just six metres of water. It makes for an incredibly relaxed dive, perfect for just about anyone. We love dropping down onto her, the light filtering in, illuminating the ghostly superstructure. What you find here is a wreck utterly reclaimed by the sea. The deck is a riot of soft corals, pulsing gently in the slight current. Look closer and you’ll spot a collection of gobies and blennies tucked into every crevice, while schools of tiny juvenile snapper often congregate around the mast. There’s a wonderful sense of history about it, even though the wreck’s past is a little murky. We think it’s best dived early morning, before the sun gets too high, when the colours are softer and the light has that perfect underwater quality. It’s not a deep, challenging wreck, but it’s full of character and life.
