PSC MATATAG - Visayas

The PSC Matatag isn't about deep dives or massive schools of pelagics. This is a shallow, characterful wreck, sitting upright in about 10 meters of water, making it a fantastic second dive or a great spot for newer wreck enthusiasts. We love how accessible it is, and the way the light filters through the superstructure on a sunny day is just mesmerising, casting these dancing patterns across the deck. It’s a tug vessel, and you can really get a sense of its working life as you fin around the bridge and engine room, which are surprisingly intact. Rusting cranes still reach out, now serving as anchors for soft corals and sponges. Look closely in the shadowed corners for moray eels peeking out, and we often spot lionfish hovering lazily over the deck. It's not a wreck you need to rush; take your time, explore the nooks, and watch the smaller reef fish flitting in and out of the windows. It’s perfect for photographers looking for interesting textures and light. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewer other divers.
