Tingo Wreck - Visayas

The Tingo Wreck, off Olango Island, isn't your typical pristine artificial reef. This cargo ship, sunk sometime in the 80s, broke into three distinct pieces, and that's precisely what makes it so interesting. We love the way the forward section sits upright, the bow still proud, while the midsection lies on its side, and the stern is a jumble of twisted metal. It’s like three different dives in one, each section offering its own character. You’ll typically drop onto the main wreck, around 20 metres, where schools of fusiliers often swirl so thick they block the light. Inside the midsection, if you’ve got a torch, we’ve found robust lionfish tucked into corners, and sometimes, a lone frogfish perfectly camouflaged on a strut. The stern section, while more broken, is a magnet for macro life; keep an eye out for nudibranchs on the encrusting corals. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light filtering through the shallower parts of the wreck really pops. It's a fantastic dive for those who enjoy exploring structures and don’t mind a bit of current to keep things lively.
