WESTERN OCEAN 2 - Visayas

Western Ocean 2, a crumpled motor vessel, sits upright in just 20 metres. We love that it’s such an approachable wreck, shallow enough for long bottom times and really allows you to soak in the atmosphere. The bow is largely intact, still recognisable as a ship, and that’s where we usually spend most of our dive, poking into the holds. Schools of small fusiliers often swirl above the deck, occasionally parting to reveal groupers lurking in the shadows of the superstructure. The currents here can pick up, so we always suggest diving on a neap tide for the most relaxed exploration. Our favourite part is the way the light filters through the clearer sections of the wreck, illuminating the sponges and soft corals that have started to colonise the metalwork. It’s a fantastic site for anyone keen on wreck diving without the usual deep-water demands, offering a glimpse into both history and the resilience of the reef.
