JARKU - Southern Islands
JARKU, off Singapore’s Southern Islands, is a fascinating wreck dive. This carrier vessel went down in 1994 after colliding with the MV Shan Furyu. Sitting upright at 23m, she’s a substantial structure, about 71m long. We've found the bow and stern largely intact, with plenty of entry points into the cargo holds if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Look for schools of fusiliers darting around the superstructure and surprisingly large groupers lurking in the shadows. It’s a site best enjoyed on a calm day; visibility can be temperamental, but when it’s good, the wreck reveals its secrets beautifully.
