RANEE - Southern Islands
The RANEE isn't just a hunk of metal; it’s a portal back to 1921, sitting upright at 15 meters. We've always found it a bit eerie, thinking about the collision with the SS Boribat that sent her down and took 31 lives. What remains is remarkably intact in parts, a steamship hull that's now a home for moray eels and schools of fusiliers that swirl around the structure. The visibility can be hit or miss, typical for Singapore, but on a good day, you can really make out the ship’s lines, imagining it in its prime. It's a dive that speaks to history buffs and those who appreciate how nature reclaims man-made objects.
