Why dive here
With 263+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue-spotted stingrays, dugongs, giant moray eels, seahorses and sea turtles - SUMIJATI offers some of Southern Islands's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest May, June, November.
The Sumijati wreck, sitting at 15 metres, is one of Singapore’s more accessible proper wrecks. She’s a motor vessel that sank in 1973 after a collision, later raised and then re-sunk, which gives her a bit of history. You’ll find her mostly intact, offering some decent swim-throughs into the cargo holds if you’re comfortable with overhead environments. What we really enjoy here is how the local reef fish have made her home – schools of snapper hang around the superstructure, and we’ve spotted moray eels tucked into crevices. It’s a good spot for those looking for a relaxed wreck dive without strong currents.
