With 158+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, mobula rays (devil rays), whale sharks and pufferfish - Haad Yao offers some of Gulf of Thailand's richest diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest April, May, June.
Haad Yao is a good introduction to Gulf of Thailand diving, with a maximum depth of 9 meters. It's a gentle, easy drift over a sandy bottom, broken up by scattered bommies. We often spot pipefish, juvenile snapper, and sometimes small stingrays burying themselves. Ideal for beginners or those getting back into the water after a break.
