Koh Yang North - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

Koh Yang North, tucked away in the southern reaches of Koh Lanta’s dive area, often gets overlooked for its flashy neighbours. That’s a mistake, in our opinion. This site is exactly what we look for on a lazy afternoon dive: easygoing, colourful, and full of little surprises. It’s a gentle slope, perfect for just drifting along, watching the resident Diana's hogfish dart about, or spotting schools of blue and gold fusiliers swirl past. The real joy here is taking it slow, poking around the smaller coral heads. We’ve spent whole dives just enjoying the simple beauty of a blue-ribbon wrasse flashing its fins or watching a nocturn goby pop in and out of its burrow. It’s not about big pelagics; it’s about the consistent, comforting presence of reef fish. You’ll find blue ring angelfish, plenty of ternate chromis, and those charming yellowstriped cardinalfish. If you're after a relaxed dive that consistently delivers vibrant reef life without needing to fight a current, Koh Yang North is our pick. It’s a great spot for newer divers, or anyone who just wants to unwind and truly see the reef.
