Lipe Corner - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

Lipe Corner, for us, is one of those sites you revisit when the conditions are just right. It’s not always a showstopper, but on a good day, it truly delivers. We’re talking about a gentle slope that morphs into a wall, packed with those striking blue and gold fusiliers. They often gather in such thick schools you can barely see past them, creating this shimmering curtain of fish. What we really love here are the smaller details tucked into the reef. Keep your eyes peeled for those shy sunset dottybacks darting into crevices and the surprisingly colourful dapple coris weaving through the corals. We’ve had fantastic luck spotting blue ring angelfish here too, gliding gracefully past the bommies. The boring clams (not so boring once you actually look at them) are everywhere, and we often find ourselves watching a black spotted blowfish clumsily rummaging around. This site is best enjoyed at a relaxed pace, allowing time to really scour the nooks. It’s a great pick for photographers or anyone who appreciates taking it slow to find the less obvious residents. If you hit it when the current is mild and the visibility is up, it transforms from a nice dive into something genuinely memorable.
