Pengasus - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

Pengasus isn't your typical wreck dive, and that’s precisely why we love it. Forget deep penetration or sprawling metal structures, this is a relatively shallow, scattered site that tells a story. We’re talking about the remains of a German freighter, torpedoed by the British in 1941. The largest sections sit at just 8 metres, meaning you get fantastic bottom time and plenty of light. What you'll find is a collection of steel plates, ribs, and machinery, all beautifully encrusted over decades. We've seen schools of snapper hovering above the larger sections, and barracuda often cruise through the open water nearby. Look closely into the nooks and crannies; nurse sharks sometimes tuck themselves away for a nap, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking out from behind corroded metal. It’s an ideal spot for macro enthusiasts, with nudibranchs and flatworms making a home on the rust. The current here can be unpredictable, so be ready for a drift, but that often just adds to the thrill of discovering new pieces of the wreck. This site is perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys history with their bubbles.
