Phocea - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

The Phocea wreck sits shallow, a genuine blessing for newer divers wanting to explore inside without deep stops or advanced certs. This old superyacht, scuttled and then repurposed as an artificial reef, now lies on its side at nine metres. We love how accessible it is, even for snorkelers on a calm day. You can swim through a few open compartments, seeing light shafts pierce the gloom and illuminate schools of glassfish shimmering in the hallways. Look for moray eels peering from crevices, and keep an eye out for octopus tucked into corners, their skin rippling to match the rust. It’s not a massive wreck, but the scale feels just right for a relaxed bimble, letting you really soak in the details. Our favourite part is the way the soft corals have started to bloom across the deck railings. We'd suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewer boats. While it's generally a calm site, some days can see mild surge, which just adds to the atmosphere.
