Selama Abadi V - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

Alright, Selama Abadi V. This isn’t one for a gentle introduction to wreck diving, let’s be clear. It’s a proper dive, down to 37 metres, and we often find ourselves hitting max depth for a good look around. The Selama Abadi V is a motor vessel, a designated 'dangerous wreck' by the authorities, which just adds to the intrigue, frankly. What we love about this wreck is how it truly feels like a time capsule. You drop down, and the sheer size starts to emerge from the blue. It’s upright, mostly intact, and the deck structures are still very much there, giving you plenty to poke around. We’ve spent whole dives just exploring the bow, imagining what it must have been like before it went down. The current can be a bit cheeky here, so good buoyancy is key, but it helps keep the visibility decent on most days. This isn’t about colourful corals, it’s about the atmosphere. The deck is often patrolled by schools of yellow-stripe scad, a shimmering curtain you swim right through. Keep an eye out for resident groupers peering from shadowy corners and we’ve even spotted a few octopus tucked away in crevices. Our favourite part has to be finning along the upper deck, feeling the cool current push past as you scan for whatever creature has claimed this rusty home today. It's a dive that rewards careful exploration, perfect for advanced divers who appreciate the character of a sunken vessel.
