Stone Henge - Koh Lanta & Phi Phi

Stone Henge near Koh Lanta is a dive we always recommend, especially if you’re staying a few days. It's not about big pelagics or massive drop-offs, but rather the sheer density of small reef fish you’ll encounter. We usually drop onto the main cluster of rocks, which are completely draped in soft corals, then spend the dive slowly circling them, letting the current drift us gently. The name comes from the way the rocks are arranged, almost like a submerged ancient monument. You'll swim through thick schools of fusiliers, so many that they sometimes dim the light. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff – we’ve consistently found some truly stunning nudibranchs tucked away in the crevices. Our favourite part has to be the resident blue-scaled wrasse, their colours just pop against the purple and orange corals. Visibility can be a bit variable depending on the tides, but even on an average day, the sheer number of fish makes it a worthwhile dive. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light seems to hit the corals just right then. It's a fantastic site for photographers or anyone who enjoys a relaxed, detailed reef dive.
