Jaak (Chak) Bay - Similan Islands

Jaak Bay, nestled along the eastern side of Similan Island #8, is one of our favourite spots for a truly relaxed dive. It’s not the dramatic drop-off or current-swept pinnacle of some other Similan sites. Instead, imagine a gentle slope, mostly sand, giving way to a healthy, vibrant coral garden. We often find ourselves drifting along the edges of the staghorn coral patches, spotting Jansen's wrasse darting between the branches. Keep an eye out for the Andaman foxface grazing lazily, or a shy blue-spot blenny peeking from its hidey-hole. The beauty of Jaak Bay lies in its subtler details – the way the light filters through the water onto the sand, the quiet rustle of parrotfish munching on the reef. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace and an observant eye. We love it for its calm conditions, making it an ideal second dive of the day, or perfect for divers wanting to hone their buoyancy and photography skills without fighting a strong current.
