SAN LUIS MARU (PROBABLY) - Hoi An & Cu Lao Cham
The San Luis Maru, or what we strongly suspect is her, sits shallow here, just a couple of metres deep. It’s a huge tanker, bombed by US aircraft in 1945, and her remains are quite spread out. You’ll spend your time exploring scattered plates of her hull, some massive beams, and what looks like sections of her engine room. Schools of yellow-tail snapper patrol the bigger metal structures, and we’ve often seen moray eels peeking out from under the twisted steel. It's a great spot for an extended safety stop or a second leisurely dive, especially if you’re into the history.
