Pro Dive Cairns - Great Barrier Reef
The team at Pro Dive Cairns are the grand old dames of Great Barrier Reef diving, and for good reason. They’ve been doing this liveaboard thing since 1983, and it shows in how smoothly everything runs. If you’re looking to get certified, or just want to knock out a bunch of dives over a few days without feeling rushed, their three-day, two-night trips are what we’d suggest. We love that they hit several outer reef sites like Flynn, Thetford, and Milln Reefs. You’ll see big table corals, plenty of parrotfish munching away, and if you’re lucky, a green sea turtle gliding past. Our favourite part has always been the night dives; dropping down into that inky black, lights off, and watching the bioluminescence pop with every hand movement. It’s pretty special. They run a tight ship, so expect early starts and decent briefings, but it means more time in the water. Plus, the food on board is surprisingly good after a day of diving. Just be ready for that gentle roll on the open ocean; a bit of seasickness medication isn't a bad idea for the first night.
