With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Eclipse Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Eclipse Reef is a solid dive, a good example of the outer Great Barrier Reef's structure. You’ll navigate around large coral bommies, keeping an eye out for reef sharks patrolling the edges and the usual cast of fusiliers and damselfish. It’s a good, straightforward dive for anyone comfortable with drift conditions and a decent way to spend an afternoon underwater.
