NON STOP - Sandy Island

Non Stop, off Sandy Island, isn't deep. Six metres, tops, so it's a lovely long dive. This is the yacht that Hurricane Hugo claimed back in '89. She's broken up a bit now, but you still get that distinct feeling of a private vessel, rather than a purpose-sunk hulk. We love picking out details, like parts of the engine room and the stern section, which is still quite intact. It’s an easy dive, perfect for newer wreck enthusiasts or even snorkelers on a calm day. The shallowness means the light really punches through, illuminating schools of snapper that swirl around the remains. Look closely, and you'll spot juvenile barracuda lurking in the shadows, plus the usual sergeant majors and parrotfish nibbling on the coral growth. Our favourite thing is to find the cleaner shrimp stations; the moray eels often pop out for a clean. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, letting you really absorb the history without any tricky currents or depths.
