Why dive here
With 107+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, dolphins, humpback whales, manta rays and mobula rays (devil rays) - Maria offers some of Varadero's richest diving. Water ranges 25-31°C, warmest July, August, September.
Maria offers a straightforward dive, typical of Varadero's inshore sites. We often see smaller reef fish darting amongst scattered coral heads and sponges. It’s a good spot for newer divers looking for a relaxed experience, or for a second dive of the day when you're not chasing big pelagics. Visibility here can vary, but usually holds around 15 metres.
