Fuikbaai / Newport - Curaçao Southeast

La Caverne d'Albi Baba, now this is a site. We head down into the blue, aiming for the drop-off to the Poindimié trench. Keep your eyes peeled as you descend, because that massive chimney opening up is your ticket into the cavern. It's a real spectacle, dropping you into a huge space that spills out onto the trench's summit ridge. While the official max depth is 29m, the bottom of that trench just keeps going, well past 300m. Inside the cavern, the light plays some serious tricks, giving the whole place a moody, ethereal feel. We've seen schools of platax and fusiliers so thick they almost block out the light. The currents here can be a bit frisky, so it's a site for those comfortable with drift diving, and definitely not for your first time in a cave. Our favourite part? Popping out of the cavern exit, hoping for a shoal of Albi to greet us. It’s a proper shot of adrenaline.
