SAONA - Bayahibe & La Romana
Saona, a tugboat sunk in 1988, sits upright in just six meters of water, making it a fantastic introductory wreck dive. We found it a pretty straightforward exploration; you can fin around the entire exterior, peering into the open wheelhouse and engine room from above. The hull is now home to a fair number of schooling grunt and snapper, with moray eels often tucked into crevices. Because of the shallow depth and easy access, it's a good spot for newer divers looking to get comfortable around a wreck, or for photographers wanting plenty of bottom time.
