With 232+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, humpback whales, orcas, sea turtles and sperm whales - La Puntilla offers some of Sosua & Puerto Plata's richest reef diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest September, October, November.
La Puntilla offers straightforward diving right off the shore, which is always a bonus. You'll find a series of small, natural coral heads and some rocky areas, home to the usual Caribbean suspects like parrotfish, snapper, and the occasional moray eel peeking from a crevice. It’s a gentle spot, good for a relaxed second dive or for divers getting comfortable in the water again. We'd suggest it for newer divers or those wanting a less strenuous outing.
